Ashley Lena Thompson

Ashley Lena Thompson, 20, of Du Quoin and the Tamaroa area, passed away at 9:12 P.M., Friday, April 2, 2004 at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital at Murray, KY.
Ashley was a sophomore in pre-veterinarian studies at Murray State University in Murray, KY where she was attending on an academic scholarship. She was a member of Sigma Alpha Agriculture Sorority at Murray State. She was a member of the Liberty Church in Du Quoin. Ashley was a 2002 graduate of the Du Quoin High School where she participated in basketball, track, crosscountry, weight lifting, FFA, FCCLA, Pep Club, French Club, Youth and Government, Student Council, and Lifesavers. While at Du Quoin High School she was a class officer, scholarship key winner, on the honor roll and graduated cum laude.
She was born March 21, 1984 at Pinckneyville, IL the daughter of Albert K. and Vickie K. (Wampler) Thompson.
She is survived by her parents- Albert and Cathy Thompson of Tamaroa and Vickie and Dan Fletcher of Du Quoin, sisters- Wendy Doerr and husband Darren of Du Quoin, Nicole Bauman and husband Andy of Tamaroa and Jill Feltmeyer and husband Damon of Du Quoin, paternal grandfather- Kenneth Thompson of Tamaroa, paternal grandmother- Mildred Davidson of Du Quoin, maternal grandparents- James and Bonita Wampler of Du Quoin, step maternal grandparents- Betty and Arthur Fletcher of Zeigler, step brothers & sisters- Colby, Douglas & Cara Robbins, Danny Jr., Michael, Nicki & Beth Fletcher, Jennifer Penley and Adrienne Myer, nieces and nephews- Jenna & Abby Doerr, Christian & Lillian Feltmeyer & Lane Bauman, step nieces & nephews-Tay-Lyn, Dakota, Dylan, Autumn, Gregory & Jadan, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother- Jean May Thompson and maternal grandmother- Lena Carder Wampler.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Steve Quinn, Rev. Lon McPherson and Bro. Woody Wilson officiating.
Friends called from 4 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Paradise Cemetery at Tamaroa.
